Developing gelatin silver process
Arctic Oeneis No. 1-24 is a series of alternatively processed silver gelatin photographs of the butterfly species; Oeneis. These butterflies are native to and thrive in the arctic environment. With increased temperatures due to climate change, the species has the potential to be on the cusp of extinction. Through the developing process of these photographs, prolonged exposure to heat and light will cause the photograph’s image to age. The image will continue to develop and eventually disappear, paralleling the effects climate change may have on them and their environment in the future.
