Developing gelatin silver process
Arctic Oeneis No. 1-24 is a series of alternatively processed developing silver gelatin photographs of the butterfly species: Oeneis. These butterflies are native to and thrive in arctic environment. With increased temperatures in the arctic, due to climate change, the species has the potential to be on the cusp of extinction. Through the developing process of these photographs, prolonged exposure to heat and light will cause the photograph’s image to age, develop and eventually disappear, paralleling the effects climate change may have on them and their environment.
